An Byeong-hun parents: Ahn Jae-hyung, Jiao Zhimin
South Korean An Byeong-hun is excited about the prospect of trying to outdo his parents by winning gold in Rio de Janeiro when golf returns to the Olympics in August after a more than 100-year absence.
He is currently ranked 26th in the world – he was 132nd when he stunned European golf 12 months ago – and a win here would qualify him as one of the two highest-ranked South Koreans for Rio de Janeiro.
“I’d like to compete in the Olympics.”
They performed it.
They received silver and bronze medals.
“I’ll have to try to get gold then,” An explained.
An Byeong-hun parents: Ahn Jae-hyung, Jiao Zhimin
An is the son of two Olympic medalists in table tennis.
His mother, Jiao Zhimin, won silver (doubles) and bronze (singles) for China in 1988, while his father, Ahn Jae-hyung, won bronze (doubles) for Korea.
According to An, the couple was dating at the time, and he jokes that he would not have been conceived if the Summer Games had not been held in Seoul.
